Abstract

The article discusses a study on Bis(methyltri-o-tolylphosphonium)octaiodide. Researchers reacted equimolar amounts of tri-o-tolyphosphine and methyl iodide at room temperature in dry dichloromethane and then 25 milliliters (ml) of anhydrous dichloromethane was added. The study showed that the octaiodide bonding distances are indicative of a di-iodide molecule and two tri-iodide anions.
