Technology challenges for satellite communications on-the-move.

The article focuses on issues concerning mobile satellite communications (SOTM) for the U.S. Army. This technology is difficult to implement due to the need of breaching signal blockage and proper alignment of antennas to gain access to the satellite while on a moving vehicle. The ARQ protocol is developed to address signal blockage and mobile satellite access, which was tested by the Army through the SOTM with the Milstar system in March or April 2002.
