Abstract

The article refutes the argument that doctor of philosophy (PhD) by publication is second rate and inferior to traditional PhD. It highlights the role of PhD by publication as an alternative path to the traditional PhD by thesis. It cites the majority of the objections to the PhD by publication which concerns technical problems. It mentions the demand posed by producing six or seven papers worthy of publication which is seen as the main argument for this route.
