Abstract

The article presents a study which assesses the biological similarity of three capsinoids found in non-pungent chili pepper (CH-19 Sweet) fruits. It states that the capsinoids at the same concentration induced virtually no nociceptive responses when applied to the eyes or the oral cavities of mice. Moreover, it mentions that capsinoids and capsaicin must have the same bio-potency as based on present results, though capsinoids do not generate pungency or sensory irritation.
