Abstract

The article assesses the prevalence of dyspnea among mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care units. The authors report that dyspnea has been found to be frequent and intense among the patients. They reveal that it is also strongly associated with anxiety among patients under mechanical ventilation. They add that dyspnea can be sensitive to ventilator settings and that there are signs that it is correlated with delayed extubation.
