Abstract
- The article reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has spoken with Interactive Brokers Group Inc. and other brokers in an effort to determine whether trading in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) contributed to market volatility during August 2011. Of particular interest to the SEC are leveraged ETFs that seek to achieve some multiple of the return of specified indexes, often by using derivatives.
