Abstract
- The article discusses accountable care organizations (ACO), an option intended to transform hospital and physician payment and delivery and the results of a 2011 survey that include reports on the development of ACO in South Carolina. According to Elliot Fisher, a proponent of accountable care and director of the Dartmouth College Center for Population Health, hospitals, doctors and other providers are offered financial incentives for increased coordination of medical care.
