GAO: BRAC Savings Are Far Less Than Projected.

The article reports on the reaction of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to the savings estimate of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) 2005 which is believed to be hugely overstated. Anthony Principi, chairman of the BRAC , said the savings will be about 15.8 billion U.S. dollars over 20 years. Initial projections of the U.S. Department of Defense were that the Air Guard changes would save 26 million U.S. dollars a year.
