Abstract

The article discusses credit-default swaps as an indicator of fear and uncertainty regarding stocks, bonds, and sovereign debt. The publication's analysis of swaps indicates trading volume tends to be sparse, and in some instances quoted swap prices have not been based on actual trades. It is suggested this shows that swap prices exert an unduly large influence on investor psychology.
