Abstract
- The article discusses the implications of the March 2011 earthquake in Japan, focusing on its effects on the country's nuclear power resources. It describes the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station during the earthquake and tsunami, and a brief history of how Japan became an advocate of nuclear energy, beginning during World War II, and U.S. and Japan's public perception regarding nuclear power post-tsunami. It also explains the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's response to the accident.
