Abstract

The article profiles Texan fiddle player and singer Bob Wills. He persuaded O. W. Mayo to become the full time manager of the band he formed after leaving the Light Crust Doughboys. Wills's band was called Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys when it began broadcasting over Radio Station WKY in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1934. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in October 1968.
