The article focuses on government corporations and government business enterprises in China. The role of the government agency the State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission (SASAC), which is the controlling stockholder in 120 such businesses in corporate governance and management is examined. It is noted that government-owned businesses often make management decisions based on economic policy goals rather than the pursuit of corporate profits.
