Abstract
- Purpose – This article seeks to discuss the implications of the Cambridge University Press et al. lawsuit filed against Georgia State University. Design/methodology/approach – The article concerns itself with the root causes of the lawsuit, and the bizarre nature of producers suing a member of their primary clientele. Findings – The article does not offer an opinion on which party should or will prevail, but instead focuses on the growing divide between publishers and academia, which seems headed for a showdown. Originality/value – The article offers another perspective on the pending lawsuit, which has the potential to define fair use in a quantifiable way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
