N-Butylpyridinium undecachlorocarbadodecaborate and comparison with similar compounds.

The article presents a study of a molecular compound in relation to low-melting salts of nido- and closo-cage anions having alkylpyridinium and dialkylimidazolium cations. It discusses the characteristics of the compound which are found similar to a pyridinium salt in a perchlorinated carborane anion. Also mentioned is the involvement of one N-butylpyridinium cation that one perchlorinated carborane cage anion counterbalanced per asymmetric unit in the compound's molecular structure.
