Beware of falling masonry.

The article considers economic conditions in the euro area monetary union of the European Union (EU), focusing on the impact of the financial crisis generated by the possibility of default on the public debts of several member countries. Weak sales and falling prices of government bonds of euro area countries are discussed. Economic indicators suggesting that the euro area is either near or in a recession are examined. The possibility of the end of the euro as a common currency is discussed.
