The article presents information on biennial conference of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Völkerkunde (DGV) that was held in Vienna, Austria, during September 14-17, 2011. The main theme of the conference was cultural heritage, revitalization and the renaissance of the idea of culture. Many papers were presented at almost 50 workshops, on topics ranging from UNESCO cultural heritage policies to tourism, and indigenous rights to global commodity chains.
