Financially Needy Students Welcome! (But Don't Let Them Know).

In this article the author comments on research she conducted with colleagues regarding ways in which elite U.S. colleges communicated their no-loan student financial aid programs in order to recruit low-income high school students through their web sites. According to the author, the communication strategies used by elite institutions toward disadvantaged students are ineffective because, as she states, the elites must weigh the costs associated with the loan programs with their institutional reputations.
