e-SPC - delivering drug information in the 21st century: developing new approaches to deliver drug information to prescribers.

In this article, the author discusses the challenges being faced by medical care systems in terms of safety and effectiveness of prescribing medicines. It highlights electronic format of summary of product characteristics (e-SPC), which help in developing new approaches to deliver drug information to prescribers. A Great Britain based study reveals that 10 percent of hospital prescriptions contain errors and senior doctors are almost as frequently culpable as those who have recently graduated.
