Abstract

In this article, the author examine early manifestos of poet Mário de Andrade, and his poetics. He mentions that Andrade's poetics or early manifestos should be read as assertions of a feigned authority which establish leadership quality within the modernist movement. Further the author mentions that Andrade uses religious motifs and language in his poetry.
