Abstract
- The article provides information on a study which examined Tipula (T.) oleracea Linnaeus species of crane flies in West-Central California. The first major, long-term collections of T. oleracea from California were collected in the vicinity of San Francisco. In addition, the study's co-author Paul H. Arnaud has collected T. oleracea from 2003-2009 in central, near-coastal California, as the species has become so common and established in the area. During the study period, collections were made in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties, as well as in Marin county.
