An Undocumented Short Story by W. Somerset Maugham.

The author reports that he has uncovered a previously undocumented source for a short story entitled "‘A Really Nice Story" written by English novelist Somerset Maugham. He found it while scanning the May 20, 1902 issue of the New Zealand newspaper "Hawera & Normanby Star," digitized courtesy of the National Library of New Zealand. The efforts of bibliographer Raymond Toole Stott to create a literary canon of Maugham's works is detailed. An overview of the story's plot and an analysis of its non-fictional elements is also provided.
