Abstract

The article discusses the means in fixing the flaws in gamification from being reluctantly used to eliciting meaningful engagement. It emphasizes the need of the proponents of gamification to think like game designers and put the player experience and for game achievements to be personally relevant. It asserts that a well-designed games use the power of the narrative to support real player growth, learning, and self-betterment. It stresses that gamification should be informed by contextual inquiry to identify and enhance those games that people are already playing.
