Deified – Damned – Depleted: Energy as Resource, Symbol and Consumer Good.

The article reports on a conference, held in Munich, Germany, from January 20-22, 2011, which was dedicated to the history of energy production and consumption. Papers presented included "Energy Productivity and Energy Intensity in Europe Over the Last Two Centuries" by Silvana Bartoletto, "Household Technology in Germany and Great Britain, 1880-1940" by Karl Ditt, and "Electrifying the World: Representations of Energy and Modern Life at World's Fairs, 1893-1958" by Nina Möllers.
