Abstract

The article offers information on protection against anthrax. It states that it is caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis and is one of the most prominent bioterrorism threats. It states that anthrax toxins could be targeted and neutralised in the gastrointestinal tract by lactobacilli producing recombinant antibody fragments. Lactobacilli expressing a neutralising scFv fragment against the PA antigen of the anthrax toxin, can provide protection against it in both in vitro and in vivo.
