Abstract

Abstract: The AC magnetic susceptibility of water is studied in the frequency range of 1kHz–1MHz at a low magnetic field. The results show a paramagnetic behavior between 500kHz and 1MHz for samples at 37°C and 25°C, which is surprising considering that water is believed to be diamagnetic. AC magnetic susceptibilities for ice and different salt solutions were investigated as well: in such cases the susceptibility is always negative and therefore, such samples remain diamagnetic.
