What next for the start-up nation?

The article examines high technology industries in Israel. A disparity is considered between the large number of new business enterprises in those industries formed in Israel and the limited number of those firms which have subsequently become larger corporations. Factors for the disparity are considered including the acquisition of small Israeli firms by large U.S. companies, a lack of so-called early stage venture capital to finance growth and Israel's small size as a consumer market.
