Abstract

The article focuses on the study conducted by researchers at Braunschweig University of Technology in Germany on the effect of solar wind on Mercury's weak magnetic field. The study shows that the solar wind suppresses the field and without the external fields, the planet's magnetic field will be 30 times stronger. It adds that measurements of the direction and strength of Mercury's magnetic field will be provided by U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration's (NASA) MESSENGER probe.
