Stimulating Macrophage Activity in Mice and Humans by Oral Administration of Quillaja Saponin.

The article presents a study that examines the immunostimulating effect of Quillaja saponin (QS) on mice and humans after oral administration. It notes that peripheral blood analysis has demonstrated significant increase in phagoctytosis and chemotactic activities while there were no changes noted in immunoglobulin and in serum albumin concentrations after the administration. Results further confirmed the importance of QS in enhancing the immune response by stimulating the macrophages.
