Abstract

The article presents a study which aims to compare the effect of azithromycin distribution on an annual or twice-yearly frequency in the control of hyperendemic trachoma in Ethiopia. It states that the study used a cluster-randomised trial which randomly assigned annual or twice-yearly treatment of trachoma in northern Ethiopia subdistricts. It concludes that elimination of infection are seen to be more rapid in the twice-yearly treated populations.
