Abstract

Torque ripple control of switched reluctance motor has been the main issue in the application of this motor. Conventional proportional plus integration, proportional plus integration and differentiation, variable structure proportional plus integration, and recently, feed-back linearization control techniques with number of reference torques have been used for torque ripple minimization. In this paper an optimal commutation strategy witha novel reference torque is used in order to achieve a minimum torque ripple using different conventional and nonconventional control techniques. This novel reference torque with feedback linearization technique minimizes the torque ripple, peak of phase current, and controlling energy. As a result, the proposed approach provides a simple way to obtaining a switched reluctance motor with optimal performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
