Abstract

The article offers the author's insights on how her mother passed to her the ritual of tying the sari. The author states that sari covers various issues which include gender specification, sexuality, and coming of age. She says that the clothes symbolizes womanhood in Hindu society. She argues that she is proud in wearing sari because she help keep and protect their ancestral tradition.
