Abstract

One of the most important renewable energy sources is solar energy which has lots of advantages: abundance, continuously, pollution free and renewability. Photovoltaic (pv) cells are used to obtain electricity energy from the sun, the output of those cells depends on solar radiation levels. Turkey is geographically divided into seven regions. The locations of the regions as far as latitude-longitude bands are different from each other. The amounts of insolation level and duration at each region are different from each other due to their latitudelongitude bands. In this research study, we compare insolation level and duration of regions considering meteorological data. Matlab toolboxes are used graphically to evaluate the obtained data related to the regions. As a result, we have obtained that East Anatolia Region has the highest insolation level and duration for 2006. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
