Abstract

The article provides information on the de-liberalization and de-theorization of Marxism in China. It mentions that sinicized Marxism has not allowed any liberal and theoretical critique of the official ideology, while philosopher Karl Marx himself applied to bravely support freedom of the press. It states that the name of Marx first appeared in the Chinese press in 1898, but Marxism did not influence the political practice of China until the October Revolution in Russia. It says that Russian Marxism had prevailed Chinese understanding of Marxism called as doctrinarism by Chinese Communist Party Mao Zedong from the Chinese Communist Party's foundation in 1921 to the victory of Mao in the competition for the leadership of the Party with Wang Ming in 1938.
