Abstract
- The article discusses the female private investigator (PI) subgenre of mystery novels. The article examines the work of authors including Sue Grafton, Marcia Muller, and Sara Paretsky, whose books all contain female PIs, and discusses why authors chose to create female PI characters, issues of gender in their novels, and the settings of novels.
