Abstract
- The article discusses the use of graphic texts, such as graphic novels and image-rich non-fiction narratives, in high school and undergraduate history education in Canada. Particular emphasis is given to ways in which such texts play a role in forming a collective historical memory within Canadian students. The article also provides a synopsis of the books "Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Biography," by Chester Brown, and "Portraits from Life," by David Collier, and explores how historical thinking is influenced by each of these non-fiction graphic books.
