Tillinghast; Idea that public golf in America began at the 107-year-old Van Cortlandt Park Golf Course in New York City; Description of the course at Franklin Park in Boston, Massachusetts which was drawn up by Willie Campbell in 1896 at the park against the wishes of landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, and Cobb's Creek Golf Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
