LA FORMACIÓN PROFESIONAL EN CHILE: APORTES AL DEBATE, DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA DE LA ENSEÑANZA MEDIA TÉCNICO PROFESIONAL.

The present essay intends to reflect upon the relationship between education and work, and their effect on the processes of preparation and training, paying special attention to secondary vocational education. Through a bibliographic revision, this essay gives an account of the different views approaching the connection between education and work, either from the conception of building human capital, or from the conception of a competence acquisition model under lifelong learning theoretical principles. We conclude that there is a need to research vocational education designs and programs in relation with their results especially in high school, in order to safeguard curricular learning outcomes in contrast with the learning achieved by students, and in order to favor effective teaching quality.
