Sophisticated Language Use Awaits ELLs in Standards.

The article discusses the sophisticated language use and scholarly vocabulary changes to the curriculum for English-language learners (ELLs) as part of the U.S. Common Core State Standards. A World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) consortium project has designed five English-language-development standards, and other initiatives include the Common Core en Español and the Understanding Language project.
