Comment on "Evaluation of Shear-Thickening-Fluid Kevlar for Large-Fragment-Containment Applications.".

The article presents technical comments on a paper by Rabb and Fahrenthold titled, "Evaluation of Shear-Thickening-Fluid Kevlar for Large-Fragment-Containment Applications." The goal of the study was to determine whether Kevlar fabrics treated with shear thickening fluids (STF) could enhance turbine fan-blade confinement barriers. The limitations of the experimental data are discussed in this technical comment, while the conclusions regarding protective applications are questioned.
