Strengthening ethics of ethics committees in India.

The author discusses the need of strengthening the ethics committees (ECs) in India. He mentions a symposium held at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, in which the topics related to monitoring of ECs, selection of members and clinical research were discussed. He suggests the need to strive registration and accreditation through improvement in ethical review processes by institutes to promote outsourcing of clinical trials to developing countries.
