Abstract

The article reports the case of a 50-year-old woman who developed shortness of breath and systemic symptoms after starting to smoke fentanyl patches. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed ground glass centrilobular nodules, and a biopsy demonstrated that the patient has pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. After the patient stopped smoking the patches, her symptoms disappeared and her chest imaging changes largely.
