Abstract

Abstract: Chemokines help facilitate the recruitment of inflammatory cells into tissues in response to infection or inflammation, and help coordinate the actions of the leukocytes that underlie an immune response. Animal models are the experimental tools of choice for the validation of chemokine biology and have provided much insight into the workings of chemokine biology. This review summarizes findings from chemokine research obtained through the application of animal models of pulmonary fibrosis, graft-versus-host disease, colitis, renal disease and allograft rejection.
