Impact of the New Legal Deposit System on National Bibliographic Control in Uganda: Developments, Practices, and Challenges.

The article discusses library and information science in Uganda as of April 2012, with a focus on the Legal Deposit System and its impact on National Bibliographic Control (NBC). Topics include the Makerere University Library Legal Deposit Act of 1958, establishing a national bibliography and facilitating copyright protection, and the National Library and publishing industry. Additional information is presented on limited cooperation between legal deposit centres and information and computer technology (ICT).
