The author presents views on a study which reports mapping out the peptide determinants of alloimmunization to the K antigen. He presents several problems associated with the study's approach including risk of inadvertently inducing an immune response and polymorphism related problems in K/k systems. The study presents advancement in the understanding of human immunology in the area of immunization to the K antigen on red blood cells (RBCs).
