Abstract: Presents research which studied the instability of planets orbiting in a disk of planetesimals as they migrate to smaller orbital radii. Resonant interactions between the planet and planetesimals; Reduction of semimajor axis of planet depending on behavior of planetesimals; Surface density of planetesimals; Possible explanation for presence of Jupiter-mass objects in small orbits around nearby stars.
