Colectores históricos del Herbario AJBC, Jardín Botánico de Cienfuegos.

The Herbarium AJBC, of the Cienfuegos Botanic Garden, keep sheets from all over Cuba, taken by important botanists between 1905 1961. Their values still being certainly unknown , and because of this the collection is scarcely consulted by specialists. Also, some samples wanted, may be are here, thus leading to Lectotypes and obstacles in studies. The scope of this survey is to detect all the collectors, and to determine their relevance. The relevance was measured by the amount of samples in our herbarium, by the quantity of species described, and by records in older or greater herbaria. All the herbarium collection was surveyed to list collectors; were consulted the Index Kewensis and Index Herbariorum for herbaria and species, respectively. Were found 89 botanists, more frequents were: Jack, Carabia, León, Britton and Howard. A groups of 25 of them classified 6588 new species. Were obtained 60 herbaria with their samples, from 24 different countries.This information will let to achieve biodiversity studies, to localize Type samples, and besides to bring back flora information.
