Abstract
- An essay is presented on the ritual of marriage with respect to identity, ideology and agency. It notes that moving from the shaping of wedding ceremonies forward into marital domesticity resembles to the repeated insistences that the use of contraceptives is a grave form of mortal sin. It adds that the conceptualization of perfect weddings is an indication of creativity and crisis. The impact of the changing marital law in forging the ideologies of marriage is also mentioned.
