Abstract

The article explores the web based information services offered by St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi. Formed by the Cambridge Brotherhoold who arrived in Delhi in 1877, St. Stephen's College is one of the premier institutions in India and its library has a collection of about 98,000 books, 3,000 online journals and a separate archival section. Aside from the web site maintained by the library for students to access their e-resources collection, it also employs chat-based reference service using Trillon, Meebo and Library H3lp instant messenger aggregator. Based on the study the author conducted on the users of the St. Stephen's College Library, he found that it is time to shift from a traditional library to a teaching library.
