Abstract

The study deals with the evolution of the Jewish Community in Timisoara, from the first documentary record until the 20th century it also mentioned the legislation that governed the life of this community, decrees which granted or cancelled certain fights. It stressed in particular the division in 3 orientation: Orthodox, Neolog and Status quo, after Congress of Jews in Budapest in 1868. The dichotomy between Orthodox Judaism and Reform Judaism is traced both in Europe and in US, where Reform Judaism emerged as a major component of religious life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
