Abstract

Aaron Florian is one of the important personalities of Romanian culture who became known before the 1848 Romanian Revolution. He imposed himself mainly in the field of education and he published many didactical works which were greatly used in Wallachian schools in the mid 19th century. The first part of this paper tries to outline an overall glimpse of Florian`s didactical works which single out through the variety of disciplines and the directions followed. The second part contains some considerations regarding the degree of circulation which his books had both inside and outside schools` environment. Thus, Aaron Florian became one of the most outstanding Transylvanian scholars who moved to Wallachia and worked there and whose works had a great impact on that period and became known during it, greatly contributing to the materialization of the ideologies which supported the mid 19th Romanian national movement.
